This full-day course is offered for new communities to the Watch for Me NC program or new officers in continuing partner communities.

This training course is free and open to members of law enforcement agencies and university police ONLY in Watch for Me NC Partner Communities.

This course provides law enforcement officers with the special traffic management knowledge and skills they need to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety in their communities. Sgt. Brian Massengill with the Durham Police Department will present the latest pedestrian and bicyclist safety enforcement information. Topic areas include:

  • Where pedestrians and bicyclists fit in
  • Engineering for pedestrian/bicycle safety
  • How pedestrian/bicycle crashes occur
  • The role of education and enforcement
  • Relevant laws and enforcement practices
  • Mock crosswalk enforcement operations
  • Crash investigation and reporting
  • Potential law enforcement partners

The course will include hands-on, in-the-field training on how to conduct a Pedestrian Crosswalk Enforcement Operation.

Please complete a registration for each individual attending so that we can plan accordingly. Please do not group registrations.
